Improve Lamination Quality and Yield With High-Temperature Buffer Pads.

In industries such as electronic manufacturing, display modules, soft board lamination, and lithium battery packaging, hot press bonding is one of the important processes to ensure product reliability and structural strength. However, due to the high temperature, high pressure, and strict requirements for alignment accuracy during the bonding process, even a slight mistake can lead to problems such as indentation, misalignment, blistering, and delamination, seriously affecting product yield. Among all the influencing factors, a commonly overlooked but crucial auxiliary material is gradually entering the field of engineers - high-temperature buffer pads.

Hot press bonding is widely used in FPC soft board and PCB, display module (such as OLED/LCD) packaging, TP bonding, cell pressing and other processes. Its goal is to firmly bond different materials under set temperature, pressure and time. However, in actual production, the following defects often occur:

Indentation and surface scratches: due to improper contact between the indenter and the product or fixture structure;

Bubbling and airway residue: uneven heat or poor exhaust during the bonding process;

Misalignment or slippage: slight movement of the bonding material during heating;

Uneven fitting: caused by uneven force distribution or thickness errors of the work-piece.

These issues not only reduce product yield, but may also trigger chain reactions such as rework, scrapping, and delayed delivery. The root cause often lies in the lack of a "flexible transition" structure between the hot pressing platform and the work-piece, and high-temperature buffer pads provide an effective solution to this problem.

During the hot pressing process, the high-temperature buffer pad is located between the work-piece and the hot pressing platform/head, playing the following five key functions:

Buffer function: Absorb pressure deviation and prevent product damage or deformation caused by excessive local pressure;

Thermal equilibrium conduction: avoids unstable bonding caused by uneven head temperature and improves molding consistency;

Anti slip positioning: Moderate friction can prevent thermal expansion from causing work-piece misalignment and sliding;

Surface protection: Protect vulnerable structures such as screens, films, and circuits from scratches or dents;

Size compensation: compensates for small tolerances in product thickness and improves overall fit flatness.

It is precisely with the composite effect of "soft protection+thermal adjustment+precise bonding" that high-temperature buffering pads have become one of the essential auxiliary materials for improving yield in precision hot pressing processes such as electronic manufacturing and module packaging.
